USA Says: "No Belgian Waffles Today"

With patriotism being displayed at an all-time high, the United States Men’s soccer team will embark on the next part of their journey. Awaiting them, and looking to end that journey, is Belgium in the Round-of-16 matchup later on today. The team knows what’s at stake- win and advance, or lose and go home. They have seen the exciting videos of USA supporters at home, mainly in crowded bars and outdoor gatherings turning their games into all-out rock concerts. If our countrymen win today against Belgium they will have displayed an act of genuine valor. It’s uncharted territory for a country that’s anxiously trying to place its name alongside the likes of Spain, Germany or Brazil. We have the best athletes in the world, but soccer has never been our forte on the national stage.

In an effort to show full patriotism, America is doing their part. The Waffle House chains in the south have started a campaign refusing to sell Belgian waffles at their restaurants on game day. Once Wednesday rolls around, it appears that they’ll be back to serving up the waffles but for the time being, that’s how you take care of business on the home front.
